We started about 7:30 riding with Jim, from Atlanta/Sarasota, FL. If you are a cyclist you know riding in a pace line, rotating the leader, conserves your energy and you ride much faster. It's a bit more dangerous because your wheels are inches apart and you can't view the scenery (but there wasn't much to see). About 5 miles later, Alan from Idaha joined the group. No wind, everyone rotating the lead, it was fun. Until those nasty head winds.
Suddenly from 17-18 mph, we were struggling to ride 10-12 mph. For miles and miles. We continued our pace line, minus Alan, who dropped off.
We managed to get in Camp about 2:30. The last rider came in at 6:30 got a standing ovation.
Today is rest day! yAy! I plan to do some hiking and relaxing. We've ridden well over 400 miles since San Diego.
Catalina State Park is beautiful. I can't wait to explore it.
