Today we leave Ft Hancock and cycle to Van Horn, Texas. Today's ride is 73 miles.
Included is a photo of one of the fully loaded, self contained riders we met along the way. Bubba always invites them to stop at our SAG stops, camp with us and treats them to breakfast and dinner. These folks not only ride as far as we do, they carry 40-60 pounds of gear on their bikes.
We finished up today's ride on I-10 for the last 7 miles or so. This was our last stretch of Interstate Highway riding for the entire trip. At first I was leery of riding on the Interstate, but in most cases the shoulder of the Interstate was better than what we we riding on before cycling down the on ramp.
I've been pleasantly surprised with Texas drivers. For three days now we've had nothing but courtesy from them. I expected the type of hostility and aggression that we get in Alabama, but I have been proven wrong. Hats off to the Lone Star state.
