Day 36

DeRidder to Opelousas 91 miles

We were expecting some thunderstorms today but dodged the bullet. It was nice and cool when we left the Quality Inn at 7:00 AM.

We saw lots of Crawfish (or crayfish?) farms in rice fields. They alternate rice and crawfish each year.!

At about 63 miles we had a rest stop at Mamou.  Another organized rode, Cycle Zydeco Ride with about 300 cyclists, was also there. Fred's Lounge was crazy.
After a bowl jambalaya and a Bloody Mary,  we headed out for our last 27.5 miles.

We're staying at a Holiday Inn Express near a shopping center so I'm getting a pedicure while Eddy is watching The Masters.

We had a BIRTHDAY celebration with cake for one of the staff. And  a BIRTHDAY celebration with Lemon Drop (vodka and lemons with sugar) to celebrate the arrival of Nancy and Ron (aka The Reagans) first grandchild.

Tomorrow is an easy day of 67 miles but rain is in the forecast.
