Long day today, 91 miles. Looks like we missed the rain. Hoping for fewer logging trucks today.
Sadly, our trip bike mechanic was in an automobile accident yesterday and will probably not be able to continue with the tour. He has been transferred to a second hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries.
Not sure what plan B is, but many of the riders have skills and knowledge of repairs. What we don't have is the parts and tools that were in the truck, which rolled. I have no idea if any of that equipment has been salvaged from the wreck.
Today's ride became "work" at about mile 80. The road turned rough and after 5 hours of mild headwinds, I was tired. Frances was upbeat and that was a big help. The last 3 miles through town were tedious. I told Frances that I was ready to SAG in.
The ride was a good one. At about mile 10 I realized I was over the stress from yesterday's ride in heavy traffic.
The highlight was the lunch stop at Fred's Lounge in Mamou. The music was great, but too loud to listen to for long. Frances and I had bloody Marys and bought Jambalaya from a vendor on town. We intersected the route oy the Zydeco ride at Mamou, so the small town was filled with cyclists.
Paul, with the tie, drove 50 miles to visit us here. He brought Boudin sausage, cheese, and crackers for the riders. He is interested in doing Bubba's tour and was just being nice.
