Meet Peachfuzz. He is shown here using a modified leaf blower to inflate an air mattress in one of the 30 or so tents used by the coasters.
I had a rocking good day today. I rode solo for the 88 miles. I averaged 17.6 mph, finishing with just over 5 hours in the saddle. Total time was 5.5 hours, meaning that I took 3, 10 minute stops. It was just a day that I wanted to go out and test my fitness. There was 3000 of climb as well as 15 miles of cross/headwinds. I only started to feel tired in the last 5 miles. I really enjoyed the ride and was pleased with how I rode.
This morning,Tuesday, we learned that one of our riders, Dean, had a mild heart attack yesterday. He was cared for by Marla, a rider who recognized his symptoms. This morning he is undergoing treatment in Austin to remove the blockage. Dean, is a great guy, and both he and Wayne will be missed from the second half of our trip.
Today features hay rides on the ranch, with the chance to see deer and turkey.
